Can Driver record video while using other apps?

Yes. On both iOS and Android, Driver can continue recording video while you use other apps by leveraging your device’s Picture in Picture (PiP) feature.

How it works:

• Start a video recording in the Driver app.

• Switch to another app — Driver will minimize into a small floating window on your screen.

• As long as the PiP window remains visible, Driver continues recording video in the background.

Important notes:

• If the PiP window is closed or removed from view, your video may show a black screen or frozen frame during that time. Recording will automatically resume once Driver is visible again.

• For a safer multitasking experience, we recommend connecting your device to your vehicle’s Bluetooth, Android Auto, or Apple CarPlay (if available), so you can access other apps through your vehicle’s controls while keeping Driver active on your screen.

If you don’t need video but still want to capture your drive, you can use Driver’s Pocket Drive feature, which records driving data without using the camera.
