Yes, Driver will automatically delete trips from your device once they have successfully uploaded to your Driver Cloud account. On iOS, trips are preset to be deleted every 2 days. On Android, users have the ability to customize when their trips are deleted, which can be after a set amount of day, or when their device storage is low.

Important Note: The auto-delete feature will ONLY remove trips saved locally on your device. Trips uploaded to the Driver Cloud will be saved and remain accessible to you. If you wish to remove trips from both your device and Driver Cloud, learn how here.

Android (delete after x days):

  1. Open Driver.
  2. Select the Menu button at the top left of the screen.
  3. Select settings.
  4. Under "Video Auto-Delete Options," you will see "Delete after time." Select this option.
  5. Select the number of days Driver should wait before deleting a trip.

Android (delete when storage is low):

  1. Open Driver.
  2. Select the Menu button at the top left of the screen.
  3. Select settings.
  4. Under "Video Auto-Delete Options," you will see "Delete when storage low." Select this option.
  5. Select the amount of storage space you want remaining on the device before Driver deletes a trip.

Helpful Tips

Selecting the correct number of days to wait before deleting a trip is very important to avoid running out of storage. The ideal number of days to wait is dependent on how much you drive, your device's storage capacity, and if you are using external or internal/external cameras when recording. Use the chart below to determine the MAXIMUM amount of days to wait before deletion. We highly recommend deleting 1-2 days sooner to ensure your device has extra storage for other applications and use.

Example: Joe drives 8 hours per day, has about 20 GB of available storage on his device, and records inside and outside his vehicle when using Driver. We recommend he deletes trips after 1 day to ensure he has enough storage on his device!
