Driver Rewards — How It Works

What is Driver Rewards?

Driver Rewards lets you earn points for the miles (or kilometers) you drive while recording with the Driver app. Points can be redeemed for gift cards and other rewards.

 

How to participate

1. Open the Driver app.
2. Tap the Rewards tab.
3. Tap Apply Now and complete the application.
4. Once approved, start a recording.
5. If your recording meets the requirements below, the miles or kilometers you drive count toward your points balance automatically.

What makes a recording count

You earn points based on distance driven. For a trip to count toward your points, it needs to meet all of the following:

• Mounted securely, facing forward. Your phone must be mounted on the dashboard or windshield, with a clear, unobstructed view of the road ahead.
• Landscape orientation. Recordings made in portrait mode don't qualify. Turn on auto-rotate before you start recording, and make sure the app is recording in landscape.
• Unobstructed view. Nothing should be blocking the road in the frame — this includes rearview mirrors, the mount base, the dashboard, the hood, air fresheners or other hanging objects, and windshield cracks or damage in the camera's field of view.
• Forward-facing only. The camera must be pointed out the front windshield. Recordings pointed out the side or rear window don't qualify.
• Recorded from passenger vehicle or truck. Trips recorded from scooters, mopeds, motorcycles, bicycles, or any other mode of transportation don't qualify.
• Fully uploaded to Driver Cloud. A recorded trip only counts once it's finished uploading. If your trip hasn't fully synced, it won't count yet — and it won't count retroactively for a bonus period that's already ended by the time it finishes uploading.

Why a trip might not have counted

If your points don't match what you expected, check these first — they're the most common reasons a trip doesn't qualify:

• The recording was in portrait instead of landscape.
• The trip hasn't finished uploading to Driver Cloud yet.
• The camera view was partially blocked (mirror, mount, crack, etc.).
• The trip was recorded in a vehicle type that doesn't qualify (scooter, motorcycle, etc.).

Checking your points balance

Your balance will always be visible under the Rewards tab. Points are added to your account once a qualifying trip is fully uploaded to your Driver Cloud. Your points balance is updated every 24 hours.

Redeeming points

Points can be redeemed for gift cards and other rewards shown in the Rewards tab. Rewards are delivered to the email address or phone number on your account, so make sure that information is current.
